Cornflake
Montreal, QC
- Comedy / Drama
- Show length: 45 minutes / Show rating: M (Age Recommendation: 16 and up)
- Location: Carriage House at Beaconsfield
Cornflake is a dramatic comedy and satire surrounding queer and neurodivergent conformity. The Story of a Bird and a Rat, trapped in the mundane world of standup comedy and door-to-door salesmanship. Our characters find themselves living in a world where one must forget and where one must stay exactly the same, with no room to grow, fly or bite. Through dialogue and movement-based storytelling, we watch a rat grow wings and a bird grow thicker skin. This is a play about transformation and growth using light, sound, and cereal to feed to longing for change we all feel inside.

This show is a double feature of two contemporary dance works. This piece creates a wonder and whimsy that is rare and distinct, combining theatre, contemporary dance, and jazz music. Followed by ‘Enchantress’, a visceral coming of age tale, showing the passage of time through a woman’s life. Based on the modern pagan traditions of “The Triple Goddess”, which breaks down a woman’s life into three phases “Mother, Maiden & Crone”

Trapped for 30 minutes (the etiquette of buying drugs), this man is confronted with four questions. What do the actions of our friends say about our own beliefs? Can we even answer this question if we don’t even understand what it means to be someone’s friend? Are we capable of advising others from partaking in our own vices?
And, most importantly, what is a vase?
